Héctor Neris is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB).

He is the son of Minerva de La Cruz. The name of his father is not public knowledge. Héctor Neris was born in the Dominican Republic’s Villa Altagracia.
He graduated in 2008 from Colegio José Francisco Pea Gómez, where he played volleyball, basketball, and chess.
Hector Neris was signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Phillies on May 28, 2010. He received his signing bonus of $16,000
Neris spent the most of his $16,000 bonus on his grandma Cristina de la Cruz’s property in Villa Altagracia. Minerva de La Cruz, Neris’ mother, was allowed to keep the remainder of the signing bonus.

He made his major league debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2014. He entered the game in the top of the 15th inning for the Phillies with the score tied at 1 on Aug. 5, 2014, against the Astros.
Neris signed a two-year, $17 million contract with the Houston Astros on November 30, 2021. Neris won his first career postseason game by inducing a two-out, bases-loaded groundout from Cal Raleigh in the sixth inning of Game 2 of the American League Division Series (ALDS) against the Seattle Mariners.
