Head of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, has taken legal action against the Member of Parliament for South Dayi Constituency, Rockson Nelson-Defeamekpor, and Multimedia Group Limited, for defamation.

Dr. Agyemang, who also serves as the New Patriotic Party Parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa South, claims that the MP made defamatory statements against him during an appearance on Joynews’ Newsfile program, a subsidiary of Multimedia Group, on April 13, 2024.

In the lawsuit filed on April 17, 2024, Dr. Agyemang alleges that during the program, the MP accused him of using state funds for frequent international travels with first-class tickets.
These statements, according to Dr. Agyemang, were false and intended to portray him as wasteful and irresponsible with public funds.
The lawsuit seeks retraction and apology from the defendants for the alleged defamatory remarks.
Additionally, Dr. Agyemang is demanding GH₵20 million in damages for the harm caused to his reputation and character by the statements made on the national and international platforms of Joynews and other internet portals.
