They were sold to the COMSAT Entertainment Group and relocated to Denver after the 1994-1995 season.
Since relocating to Denver, the Avalanche have won eleven division titles and set the league record for most consecutive division titles at nine in a row from 1995 to 2003; one in Quebec, the rest in Colorado, and have qualified for the playoffs in each of their first 10 seasons after relocating.

How many Stanley Cups has Colorado won?
The Colorado Avalanche has three Stanley Cups to their name. They won their first championship in 1995-96. The second cup was won in the season 2000-01.
The Avalanche won their third Stanley Cup in franchise history on June 26, 2022, when they defeated the two-time defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth game of the Stanley Cup Finals.
As a result, they are the only active NHL team to have won all of their Stanley Cup Finals appearances.
