Mark Austin has not left Sky News however, he has confirmed his departure from Kyiv to report to a safer area in Ukraine as Russian attacks on the capital intensify.

After a week of the Russian-Ukrain crisis, more than 1,000,000 people have fled Ukraine to settle at safer places. There were more bombings with over 2000 civilians thought to have been killed over the first seven days of the war.

As the war persists, Austin confirmed that he had left the city (Kyiv) to search for a safer place to report. He made this known in a Twitter post.

“A small story… A member of the Kyiv hotel staff, Oleksandra, asked me quietly why were are leaving the city. “Will they come”? “Maybe, I said and wished I hadn’t”. But we’ll be back. God bless you all for coming, she smiled. I had no words. No words at all”.
