One of the biggest surprises in the NFL Draft’s first round was not so much what happened as it was what didn’t happen. Former Liberty quarterback Malik Willis is the biggest name remaining on the board after he wasn’t selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft on Thursday, April 28 2022

Willis, who turns 23 next month, had a junior season in which he threw for 2857 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also showed off his speed, gaining 878 yards and scoring 13 times.

The teams at the top of the second round already have veteran quarterbacks, but selecting Willis would secure their future under centre while giving him time to develop.
The Falcons have the 43rd pick, which is 11th overall. The New York Giants, who declined Daniel Jones’ fifth-year option, and the Seattle Seahawks, who have two picks at 40 and 41, could take Willis before Atlanta, which means the Falcons may need to make a trade if they want the Liberty quarterback.
