English professional football player Henry Poole (31 January 1935 – 23 September 2023) was known for his erratic free kicks. He played primarily as a half back and made the third-most appearances for Port Vale. In a fifteen-year stint with the club, from 1953 to 1968, he made 499 league and cup appearances. In 1958–1959, the “Valiants” won the Fourth Division championship while Poole was a member of the team.

Poole, who was raised in Stoke-on-Trent, attended Carmountside Secondary Modern with Terry Miles. Despite being teammates from their early teens till their 30s, Poole was a little older. After spending his formative years with several clubs, Poole signed as an amateur with Port Vale in February 1953. While performing his national service, he also played for Oxford City.

The 88-year-old Port Vale veteran Harry Poole has passed away, the team has confirmed. Poole, who was born in Stoke-on-Trent, played halfback for Vale between 1953 and 1968. He started out as an amateur before turning pro in 1956.
His total of 499 appearances is third in Vale history, just behind Roy and Phil Sproson, while his 79 goals rank ninth all-time for the Burslem club.
Poole was a member of the Vale team that won the 1958–1959 Division Four championship.
