Even before reaching his teenage years, Kewell showcased his football prowess by playing junior football for Smithfield Hotspurs, now known as Fairfield Hotspurs. His skills on the field quickly became apparent, and as a teenager, he made the switch to Marconi Fairfield, marking a significant step in his football journey.
