#HandOffOurHotels Demonstration to Be Replicated in Other Regions – Ablakwa

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Lead Convener of the #HandOffOurHotels demonstration, has announced plans to replicate the protests in other regions if the government does not abandon its bid to sell SSNIT’s hotels to Bryan Acheampong’s Rock City Hotel.

Ablakwa emphasized the need to rally Ghanaians against the government’s move to privatize state assets for personal gain.

Speaking at the ongoing demonstration, the North Tongu Member of Parliament made it clear that the protests would continue until President Akufo-Addo publicly declares a halt to the transaction.

“The demonstrations may continue if we don’t hear from President Akufo-Addo hours after the demonstration, saying they are backing off this transaction. We may go to another region, probably the Central Region, where very iconic hotels like Ridge Royal and Elmina Beach Resort are located. Remember that Busia Lodge and Trust Lodge are also under attack, so these demonstrations are going to continue,” Ablakwa stated.

He stressed the importance of national and patriotic duty, calling on all Ghanaians to support the effort to protect their pensions.

“We are not going to rest, we are not going to be complacent, and we are not going to allow ourselves to be taken by surprise. It is a national duty, it is a patriotic duty, and we call on all Ghanaians to support this noble quest to protect our pensions,” he said.
