A deadly shooting had occurred at noon time on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Half Moon Bay area in California, leading to the death of at least seven people.

The bodies of four of the victims with gunshot wounds were discovered at a nursery “along the 12700 block of San Mateo Road (Highway 92)”, while three other bodies were found at another nursery “along the 2100 block of Cabrillo Highway South”.
The victims were said to be Chinese farm workers on a farm land in the area.
The suspect, Chunli Zhao, 67, who is said to be a resident in the area, has been arrested and is now in custody of the Police.

Zhao was caught with a semi-automatic handgun, and had allegedly killed three of his victims in the trailers where they resided close to their farmland, and shot two others on the farm.
For San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus, Zhao’s motive for for the shooting is yet to be determined.
“This is a devastating tragedy for this community and the families touched by this unspeakable act of violence,” Corpus said.
“This kind of shooting is horrific. It’s a tragedy that we hear about far too often, but today it’s hit home here in San Mateo County”, Corpus added.
Just few days ago, a mass shooting occurred in the Southern California city of Monterey Park, leaving at least 11 people dead.
