Ghanaian R&B and afro-fusion singer, Jackline Acheampong, known professionally as Gyakie has shared insights into the inspiration behind her latest single ‘December’.

Gyakie revealed that after experiencing disappointment and heartbreak from someone dear to her, she channeled her emotions into composing ‘December’ as a means to process and cope with her feelings.
During an interview on TV3’s New Day on Wednesday, April 10, Gyakie expressed that she was in a somber state of mind when she penned the lyrics for “December.”

“It is a fully broken heart. It’s actually one of the songs I wrote when I was in actually in one of my sad moments and I wrote it in Paris. Every word in the song is literally direct. A special someone disappointed me…the story of the song is in the lyrics of the song when you read the lyrics, you will understand what I mean more,” she said.
She explained that “December,” her first release of the year, was originally intended to be released during the festive season last year.
However, she opted to release her hit song “Rent Free” at that time, leading her to postpone the release of “December” to ensure that Ghanaians could fully enjoy “Rent Free” before unveiling another captivating track.
December was released on April 5.
