GRIDCo and the ECG informed the public that, due to a reduction in gas supply from Nigeria starting yesterday, Wednesday, June 12, 2024, some areas across the country have experienced interruptions in power supply.
The West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) explained in a statement that the reduction in gas supply is due to maintenance work being carried out by a gas supplier in Nigeria, and this is expected to last for three (3) weeks.

The maintenance has led to a decrease in overall power generation capacity in Ghana, which may necessitate load management during the maintenance period.
In a joint statement, GRIDCo and ECG however, “assured the public that we are collaborating with other stakeholders in the power value chain to optimise available resources to ensure minimal impact of the reduction in gas supply on consumers.”
