Grant Hill Parents: Meet Calvin Hill, Janet Hill

Grant Henry Hill is an American professional basketball executive and former player. Grant Hill is the son of Calvin Hill and Janet Hill

Grant Hill’s father Calvin G. Hill is a former professional football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL). He was a member of the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Redskins, and the Cleveland Browns. He also spent a season with the World Football League’s Hawaiians (WFL).

At Yale University’s 2016 commencement, Hill was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. The first sentence of the citation honouring Hill is “You are a Yale legend.”

Grant Hill’s mother died in August of 2022 after a year-long battle with brain cancer. In the late 1960s, she graduated from Wellesley College with a bachelor’s degree. She went on to earn a master’s degree in mathematics education from the University of Chicago.

Janet Hill served on the boards of several corporations, including Wendy’s Company, Sprint, Houghton Mifflin Dean Foods, the Carlyle Group, and Esquire Bank. She was inducted into the Halls of Fame of the National Association of Corporate Directors and the Washington Business Hall of Fame.
