Comprising three, four, and five-bedroom ultramodern apartments, the units are intended to accommodate public servants in the region and are currently at a commendable 90 percent completion rate.

During a comprehensive inspection of the four different sites situated at Ridge, a suburb of Nhyieaso, Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah expressed the government’s unwavering commitment to providing top-notch, affordable housing for public sector employees.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to alleviate housing shortages across the nation.

Osei-Mensah clarified that the government plans to rent out the apartments to occupants at reasonable rates, with tenancy agreements to be signed between government entities and state agencies, rather than individual occupants.

Funding for the project was secured through an innovative agreement between the government and private construction firms. Under this arrangement, the firms constructed the houses and received parcels of land in exchange.

According to Peter Osei-Wusu, the Ashanti Regional Lands Officer, the government lands in Nhyieaso underwent thorough evaluation by the Ghana Institute of Surveyors.

All contracts underwent scrutiny by the Public Procurement Authority to ensure cost-effectiveness and value for money.

This collaborative agreement has facilitated the seamless construction of the housing project, with the government not requiring to allocate any funds directly to the initiative.
