An English motorcycle speedway rider named Gordon Kennett lived from 2 September 1953 until 12 September 2023. Together with Malcolm Simmons, he took home the World Pairs Championship in 1978. In the 1978 Speedway World Championship at Wembley, he came in second place to Ole Olsen.

Kennett’s career lasted for twenty-four years, during which he played for the Oxford Rebels, helped found the White City Rebels, and then rejoined the Eastbourne Eagles.

He was a member of the Midland Cup-winning Oxford team in 1975, a dramatic competition that required replays after home and away draws with Swindon Robins and required wins over Wolverhampton Wolves at both home and away venues to win. He helped the White City Rebels to the British League Tables championship in 1977.
