Glenn Hoddle is a former English footballer and football manager. He is the son of Teresa Roberts and Derek Hoddle.

He was born in the Middlesex town of Hayes. The family soon relocated to Harlow, Essex.

His mother Teresa Roberts made a name for herself in the local darts scene as the mixed doubles partner of local darts star Rod Kingham, who was also from Harlow.

Glenn Hoddle attended Harlow’s Burnt Mill School. Hoddle joined Harlow-based Sunday league club Longmans with his father when he was 15 years old.

Dave Hoddle, Hoddle’s uncle, was a member of the Stansted squad that won the FA Vase in 1984.

Glenn Hoddle began his professional playing career with Tottenham Hotspur, where he spent the majority of his club career and gained fame for his exceptional skills, vision, and passing ability.

During his time at Tottenham Hotspur, Hoddle won several domestic honors, including the FA Cup and UEFA Cup (now known as the UEFA Europa League).

He also earned numerous individual accolades, including being named the PFA Young Player of the Year and the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.

After retiring as a player, Glenn Hoddle transitioned to football management. He had managerial stints with clubs such as Swindon Town, Chelsea, and Southampton, and he also managed the England national team from 1996 to 1999.
