Gina Lollobrigida, OMR was an Italian politician, photojournalist, and actress. Gina Lollobrigida died at a clinic in Rome on 16 January 2023, at the age of 95 according to her agent.

Luigia Lollobrigida, born in Subiaco, became a successful beauty queen and model before making her first film appearance in 1946.

She was a high-profile European actress in the 1950s and early 1960s when she was an international sex symbol.

Gina Lollobrigida was one of the last living high-profile international actors from Hollywood’s Golden Age at the time of her death.

Gina Lollobrigida began a second career as a photojournalist after her film career slowed. In the 1970s, she broke a story by obtaining an exclusive interview with Fidel Castro.

Lollobrigida was honoured with the NIAF Lifetime Achievement Award at the Foundation’s Anniversary Gala in 2008.

She sold her jewellery collection in 2013 and donated nearly $5 million of the proceeds to stem-cell therapy research. At the 18th Golden Globe Awards, she received the Henrietta Award.
