Gina Lollobrigida Cause of Death

Gina Lollobrigida, an Italian film legend who was dubbed “the most beautiful woman in the world” after the title of one of her films, died at a clinic in Rome on 16 January 2023, at the age of 95 according to her agent.

Paola Comin, the agent, gave no additional information. Her grandnephew, Italian Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida, tweeted news of her death, calling her “one of the brightest stars of Italian cinematography and culture.”

In September 2022, Lollobrigida underwent surgery to fix a thigh bone that had been broken in a fall. When she got home, she claimed to have quickly started walking again.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Lollobrigida and Sophia Loren came to represent the earthy sexuality of Italian actresses.

Gina Lollobrigida began her career as a successful beauty queen and model after completing her training as a painter and sculptor. In 1946, she made her film debut in a small role in the action-packed adventure “The Black Eagle.”

She had become a huge star in Europe by the early 1950s. In 1953, she made her English-language film debut with Humphrey Bogart and Jennifer Jones in John Huston’s “Beat the Devil.”
