Afiba was last seen in April in southeastern Abia State, along with her Nigerian friend, Celine Chidinma Ndidum.

Afiba and Celine traveled to Rivers State for a wedding that was later canceled. They then went to Aba, Abia State, for business and have not been seen since.

In response, Ghanaian authorities are exerting diplomatic pressure on Nigeria to resolve the case.

A significant breakthrough occurred with the arrest of Andrew Amechi Otchipo, a 52-year-old British Nigerian.

Otchipo, a suspect with deep connections in Nigeria and reportedly wanted by security agencies, was apprehended by Interpol to assist in the investigation. CCTV footage from the hotel where Afiba and Celine were last seen provided crucial evidence linking Otchipo to the disappearance. Personal belongings of the women were found in his residence.

Despite the arrest, authorities are struggling to extract information from Otchipo regarding the whereabouts of Afiba and Celine.

The sequence of events leading to the disappearance began when Afiba and Celine’s wedding plans in Port Harcourt were canceled. They then traveled to Aba for a business engagement related to pet ventures. The last sighting of the women was at Panyu Hotel and Resort in Abia on April 27, 2024.

On April 28, a possible abduction scenario emerged. Afiba sent a WhatsApp message with a live location marker to a mutual contact in Port Harcourt, who alerted the authorities. The case was promptly relayed to the Aba Anti Kidnapping Squad, urging collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force for a swift search and rescue operation.
