Yamoah, who secured the gold medal at the 2023 African Games in Accra with a new personal record of 2.23 meters, celebrated his victory with Ronaldo’s famous ‘siuuu’ celebration, a trademark of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
In an interview with Joy Sports, Yamoah revealed that he chose Ronaldo’s iconic “siuuu” celebration to pay homage to his idol after his triumph. He explained that Ronaldo’s celebration is renowned for energizing the crowd, and as Ronaldo is his idol, it was a natural choice for him.
“In the world of football, if you want a celebration that gets the crowd going, the siuuu celebration is one of the best.”

“So when I got up from the mat and started swinging my index finger in the air, the only thing that came to mind was to get the crowd cheering, and Ronaldo is my idol, so he was the only one that I could think of,” he added.

Yamoah underscored Ronaldo’s influence on him, praising the football star’s exceptional work ethic and team-oriented mindset.
“Cristiano Ronaldo has a significant impact on me,” he disclosed.
“His work ethic is among the best. This is a guy who doesn’t focus on himself, but he wants his team to succeed, as we’ve seen in so many of his games.”
The Ghanaian athlete is aiming to secure a spot in this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris.
