George Shapiro died on May 26 of natural causes at his home in Beverly Hills. He was 91.

George was an American talent manager and television producer. He was among the most successful managers in show business, known for representing Jerry Seinfield, Carl Reiner and Ady Kaufman, and served as a producer for the Sitcom Seinfeld.

After graduating from NYU, Shapiro went to work in the mailroom at the William Morris Agency in New York.
On June 30, 2021, people from the world of comedy gathered at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills to honour Shapiro.
The David Lynch Foundation presented him with the Lifetime of Bliss Award. He said he had been practising Transcendental Meditation for 28 years.
