George Perez Cause Of Death: What Happened To George Perez?

George Pérez, an acclaimed comic book artist and writer known for his work on major DC properties passed away on Friday, May 6 from pancreatic cancer.  He was 67.

In December 2021, Perez publicly announced his then-stage 3 pancreatic cancer diagnosis, telling fans that the cancer was inoperable and doctors had given him six months to a year to live. The artist chose not to receive treatment.

“I’ve been given the option of chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy, but after weighing all the variables and calculating how much of my remaining days would be consumed by doctor visits, treatments, hospital stays, and dealing with the often stressful and frustrating bureaucracy of the medical system,” Perez wrote.

Perez rose to prominence in the 1970s as a penciler for Marvel Comics’ The Avengers, and he later returned to the franchise in the 1990s. He pencilled The New Teen Titans, which became one of DC Comics’ best-selling series, in the 1980s. He was known for his ability to render complex crowd scenes in a detailed and realistic manner.
