George Alagiah Illness: What Illness Does George Alagiah Have?

George Alagiah was first diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in April 2014. It was disclosed on 17 April 2014, that George Alagiah was being treated for colorectal cancer.

Despite announcing on Twitter that the treatment was officially over in late October 2015, cancer returned in January 2018.

In June 2020, George Alagiah revealed that cancer had spread to his lungs, liver and lymph nodes and in October 2022, he announced that it had spread further.

Since 3 December 2007, he has been the presenter of BBC News at Six and was previously the main presenter of GMT on BBC World News since its launch on 1 February 2010.

George Alagiah studied politics at Van Mildert College, Durham University. Alagiah initially worked for seven years in print journalism with South Magazine.

Since 3 December 2007, George Alagiah has been the presenter of BBC News at Six. Alagiah was part of the BBC team which collected a BAFTA award for its coverage of the Kosovo conflict in 2000.
