Gavin Escobar died around noon on September 28, 2022, while rock climbing near Tahquitz Rock in the San Bernardino National Forest. He was 31 years old.

Gavin Escobar was found dead near a Southern California peak after rescue crews responded to reports of injuries.

Rescuers were called around 12:30 pm on Wednesday to Tahquitz Rock near Idyllwild following a distress call, the Cal Fire/ Riverside County Fire Department said on Twitter.
A team managed to claim into the steep, remote area and found both unidentified climbers dead at the scene.
They were identified on Thursday as Chelsea Walsh and Escobar.
