Gary J. Volesky is a retired Lieutenant General of the United States Army who led the I Corps from 2017 to 2020.

He previously led the 101st Airborne Division and the American ground forces in Iraq as part of the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve.
Lieutenant General Randy George succeeded Volesky as commander of the I Corps in February 2020.
Volesky served in the Gulf War, the Iraq War, and the Afghan War. He was awarded the Silver Star for his actions on 4 April 2004, also known as “Black Sunday,” which kicked off the Siege of Sadr City.
The US Army suspended Volesky from a lucrative consultant position on July 9, 2022, after a social media post under his name mocked first lady Jill Biden’s support for abortion rights.
Lieutenant General Volesky is happily married to LeAnn Volesky, and they are proud parents of their son Alex.
