American politician and activist Gary Glenn served as a Republican representative for Michigan’s 98th district in the state’s House of Representatives from 2015 to 2018. He spoke against making union support or membership a requirement for employment.

He spearheaded a successful campaign to pass a state Right-to-work law that forbade collective bargaining agreements that make union membership or financial support a requirement of employment between 1980 and 1986 while serving as executive director of the Idaho Freedom to Work Committee.
Glenn was given a stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer diagnosis in January 2016; there were signs of a recurrence in 2018 and 2021. At the age of 65, he passed away on July 27, 2023.
