The undefeated wrestler, Gama Pehlwan, had a daily diet that included 2 gallons (7.5 litres) of milk, 6 desi chickens and more than a pound of crushed almond paste made into a tonic drink.

Gama came into limelight at the age of ten, following a strongman competition that included energy exerting exercises such as squats.

Gama had a career that survived over 5 decades. He was crowned the Indian World Heavyweight Championship and is regarded one of the greatest wrestlers in the world.

He died in Lahore, on May 23, 1960. He was aged 82.

Gama was known to carry out 5000 lunges (baithaks) and 3000 push-ups on a daily basis right from the young as age 10.

In 2017, Shalma Khan produced a biopic which eventually turned into a show- The Kapil Shalma show. It revolved around the life and historical career of Gama.

The show featured Shalman’s brother Sohail, TV actor Mohammed Nazim and Imam Baksh.

The fiction show was shot in Punjab and London.
