At 24 years old, Vilardi has become a prominent figure in the NHL, showcasing prowess that extends beyond his age. Born on August 16, 1999, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Vilardi’s journey to professional hockey stardom began with his recognition as a top prospect leading up to the NHL draft.

Selected eleventh overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Vilardi’s early professional career faced a hurdle due to a chronic back issue. This setback delayed his debut with the Ontario Reign, the Kings’ AHL affiliate, until November 29, 2018. Despite the initial challenges, Vilardi’s determination and resilience propelled him forward.

Having overcome his back issue, Vilardi found his stride with the Reign in the 2019–20 season, playing 32 games and accumulating an impressive 25 points with 9 goals and 16 assists. His standout performances caught the attention of the Kings, leading to his recall to the NHL on February 20, 2020.

As a restricted free agent, Vilardi signed a one-year, $825,000 contract extension with the Kings on July 23, 2022, reflecting the team’s confidence in his abilities. However, the hockey world is dynamic, and on June 27, 2023, Vilardi was part of a significant trade that sent him, alongside Alex Iafallo, Rasmus Kupari, and a 2024 2nd-round draft pick, to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Pierre-Luc Dubois.
