Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare has shown her support for the Asanteman Queen Mothers’ Day and Food Fair by donating GH¢200,000.

The donation aims to strengthen women’s participation in traditional governance, particularly among young people.
Addressing the queen mothers in the Ashanti Region on Monday, April 22 2024, Opare stressed the importance of advocating for increased female representation across various sectors.
“Let us continue to push for deliberate efforts to have more women in all areas of our national discourse; leadership roles in the public sector, religious organizations, educational institutions, private sector organizations, among others,” she remarked.
Osei-Opare took the opportunity to call on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to support the passage of the Affirmative Action Bill.
Speaking at the Asanteman Queen Mothers’ Day and Food Fair in the Ashanti Region, Osei-Opare praised Otumfuo’s efforts in promoting greater female involvement in governance within the Ashanti kingdom.
“Under your reign as Asantehene, we have seen a noticeable increase in the active participation of queen mothers in the management of the Ashanti kingdom,” she observed. “Queen mothers are now permitted to attend Asanteman Council meetings, reflecting a deliberate effort to empower women.”

Recognizing Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s influential leadership style, Osei-Opare appealed to him to advocate for the passage of the Affirmative Action Bill, which is currently under review in parliament.

“Nana, your leadership style not only inspires confidence but also sets a powerful example for the next generation of male leaders,” Frema Opare said. “I therefore urge you, Otumfuo, to lend your voice to the passage of the Affirmative Action Bill.”
Highlighting the significant representation of the Ashanti region in Parliament, Osei-Opare stressed the potential impact of the monarch’s endorsement. “Nana, the Ashanti region has the highest number of MPs in Parliament, so your support can greatly influence the passage of this Bill,” she added.
She also praised Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his remarkable 25 years on the Golden stool, noting his pivotal role in restoring peace not only within Asanteman but across the nation.
She commended the monarch’s investment in health, particularly the ‘heal Komfo Anokye Project’ and the renowned Otumfuo Educational Fund, which supports bright but underprivileged students.
Acknowledging the significant influence of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa, Osei-Opare praised her for her generosity and continuous support and guidance to all.
She concluded by acknowledging the pivotal role of Queen Mothers in Ghana’s development, highlighting their contributions to tradition preservation, community advancement, and dispute resolution, emphasizing their irreplaceable status as guardians of the Ashanti kingdom.
