Freddy Rincón Accident: How It Happened?

Freddy Rincón former Colombia captain is dead. He died aged 55 after sustaining severe head injuries in a car crash.

On Monday, April 2022, Rincón was injured when the vehicle he was driving collided with a bus in Cali, Colombia.

“Despite our teams’ best efforts, Freddy Eusebio Rincón Valencia has died,” stated Laureano Quintero, medical director of the Imbanaco Clinic in Cali, where Rincón was being treated.

The FCF, Colombia’s football association, paid tribute to him on Twitter, writing, “We will miss him and remember him with great affection, appreciation, respect, and admiration.”

Rincon, 55, was a commanding midfielder who played for Colombian sides Santa Fe and America. He has previously played for Napoli in Italy and Real Madrid in Spain.

In 2000, he captained Brazilian club Corinthians to their first club world championship trophy, and he was also a member of Colombia’s ‘golden generation,’ who won three World Cups in a row in 1990, 1994, and 1998.

During his international career, he scored 17 goals, including one against Argentina in a 5-0 World Cup qualification win in Buenos Aires in 1993.
