Tony Hancock was an English comedian and actor who was married to Freddie Ross Hancock MBE, a British-born New York-based entertainment industry marketing consultant and the founder of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ East Coast branch.

The couple began dating in 1957, and after the comedian divorced his first wife, they married in December 1965. However, Tony Hancock’s drinking and self-destructive behavior harmed their marriage.
She filed for divorce in 1968 after she was unable to save Tony Hancock from his chronic alcoholism.
Freddie Hancock recovered from her broken marriage and went on to become a well-known publicist and agent in the film and television industries.

Tony Hancock’s personal and professional life had deteriorated to the point where he committed suicide while working in Australia in June 1968, just before his divorce was finalized.
In 1969, she collaborated with journalist David Nathan to write Hancock, a biography of her recently deceased estranged husband, Tony Hancock.
Freddie Ross Hancock, passed away on 27 November 2022 at her Manhattan home, according to friend and former Warner Bros. executive Luke Fontneau. She was 92 years old.
