Frank Beamer Wife: Who Is Cheryl Oakley?

Cheryl Oakley is the wife of Franklin Mitchell Beamer / Frank Beamer, a retired former college football player and American college football coach, famed for his time with the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Oakley and Beamer met on a blind date, arranged by Oakley’s sister Sheila. At the time, Beamer was a senior at Virginia Tech.

Beamer and Oakley eventually tied the knot on April 1, 1972, some years after their blind date.

They have two children – Shane and Casey, and five grandchildren.

Their son, Shane played football at Virginia Tech as a long snapper, and was a member of the 1999 team that played for the national championship.

Shane was hired by Virginia Tech in 2011 as the running backs coach and associate head coach.

However, he left Virginia Tech upon his father’s retirement in 2015.

After assistant coaching stops at Georgia and Oklahoma, Shane currently serves as the head coach at the University of South Carolina

Much is not known about the professional life of Cheryl Oakley.

But she is a very supportive wife and was often present in the stadium when her beloved husband was coaching.

In 2016, Beamer and Oakley teamed up and published the children’s book Yea, It’s a Hokie Game Day! under Virginia publisher Mascot Books, Inc.
