Dwayne Haskins died on April 9, 2022, when he was struck by a dump truck on a South Florida highway.

He was in Florida to train with several of his Steelers teammates. Florida Highway Patrol stated Haskins was walking on Interstate 595 near Davie when he was struck by the dump truck while attempting to cross the westbound lanes of the highway and died at the scene.
Dwayne Haskins Jr. was an American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for three seasons.
He played college football at Ohio State, where he won the Sammy Baugh Trophy and was the 2019 Rose Bowl MVP as a sophomore.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins was struck and killed by a dump truck on April 9, 2022, near Fort Lauderdale airport, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
“Mr. Haskins was walking on a limited access facility Highway/expressway for unknown reasons,” FHP said in a statement.
Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Indiana Miranda also said Haskins was hit by a dump truck while he was walking on a highway and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“He was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 when there was oncoming traffic,” Miranda said in an emailed statement.
