Filip Zadina was born on November 27, 1999, in Pardubice, Czech Republic. Zadina began his hockey career in the Czech Republic, playing in the youth system of HC Pardubice.
He then moved to North America to pursue his professional career in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). In the CHL, Zadina played for the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

During his time with the Halifax Mooseheads, Zadina showcased his scoring ability and offensive instincts. In the 2017-2018 season, he recorded an impressive 44 goals and 38 assists for a total of 82 points in just 57 games. His performance caught the attention of NHL scouts, and he was projected to be a high draft pick.
Zadina was selected sixth overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Red Wings during the 2018-2019 season. Since then, Zadina has been a regular member of the team’s lineup, contributing offensively and continuing to develop his game.
