Jesusa Purificacion Levy Sonora-Poe better known by her screen name Susan Roces, was the only wife of Filipino actor, film director, producer, screenwriter, and politician Ronald Allan Kelley Poe, also known professionally as Fernando Poe Jr., and often referred to by his initials FPJ.

Roces and FPJ got married in a civil wedding in December 1968 and later married in a religious service, where in attendance was then Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos and First Lady Imelda.
FPJ had and his wife Roces adopted a daughter Grace Poe, who became a senator.
Roces was a Filipina actress and producer and is regarded as the “Queen of Philippine Movies.”
Roces starred in more than 130 films and won five FAMAS Awards including two Best Actress wins.

FAP Awards honored her with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her long-standing career and contribution to Philippine cinema.
The Philippine Post Office also honored Roces with a stamp, recognized among the ten outstanding Filipinos.
Roces was an advocate for her husband, who ran for president in the 2004 Philippine presidential election and later died of stroke in December 2004.
Roces convinced that President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo won the election through electoral fraud at her husband’s expense, demanded Arroyo to resign in June 2005.
Roces died on May 20, 2022, aged 80 and her death was announced by her adopted child, Senator Grace Poe, via her Facebook page.
