Fernanda Contreras Gomez was born on October 8, 1997, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Her grandfather was Francisco Contreras Serrano who was a Davis Cup member and a Pan American Games medalist. She was brought up in Austin, Texas where she was schooled at Westlake High School.
Fernanda Contreras Gomez later graduated from Vanderbilt University in May 2019 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. As a junior at Vanderbilt University, she won the USTA/ITA All-American Intercollegiate Championship and became Vanderbilt’s first Riviera/ITA Singles Tournament Champion. She was named singles and doubles All-American.
