Felipe Colares, a 29-year-old UFC fighter, died after being hit by a bus in Rio de Janeiro on Monday (May 1). According to his coach, Rodrigo Babi, Colares was returning home from training when he was hit in the Rio suburb of Guaratiba.

According to the report, Colares was treated by first responders but died en route to neighboring Hospital Rocha Faria in Campo.
Colares, who was born on March 31, 1994, grew up in Macapá, Amapá.
He started training in judo at the age of seven and picked up Brazilian jiu-jitsu, taekwondo, and Muay Thai at 15.

Colares had an undefeated MMA record of 8-0 fighting on the Brazilian regional MMA circuit, culminating in his victory of the Jungle Fight featherweight belt before signing with the UFC in January 2019.
Colares, a professional since 2013, made his UFC debut as a lightweight against Geraldo de Freitas on February 2, 2019 at UFC Fight Night: Assunço vs. Moraes 2. He was defeated by a unanimous decision.
Colares’ release from the UFC was announced on June 9, 2022.
Colares made his first post-UFC debut on February 17, 2023, at Ares FC 12, when he submitted Alioune Nahaye through rear-naked choke in the first round.
