Fatima Sana Shaikh was born in Mumbai in 1992, to her parents, Raj Tabassum and Vipan Sharma.

Her mother, Raj Tabassum, is from Srinagar with a Muslim background, while her father, Vipin Sharma, from Jammu, was brought up Hindu. Despite this mix, Shaikh herself identifies as an atheist.

Her journey into acting began early. At just five, she stepped into the limelight with the 1997 film “Chachi 420.” Growing up, she graced several movies, notably “One 2 Ka 4.”

However, it was her breakthrough performance in 2008’s “Tahaan” that put her on the map, earning international acclaim.

But it was 2016’s “Dangal” that catapulted her to stardom. Playing Geeta Phogat opposite Aamir Khan, the biopic about wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters was a runaway success. Shaikh’s commitment, including intense physical training, earned her praise.

Since then, she’s ventured into diverse roles, from the Netflix hit “Thugs of Hindostan” to the chilling “Ludo.” Most recently, she captivated audiences with the web series “Ajeeb Daastaans.”
