Their son, Fatih Terim, would go on to become a Turkish football legend, a renowned manager, and a significant figure in the global football community.

Talat Terim, a Turkish Cypriot who embarked on a journey to Turkey, and Nuriye Terim welcomed Fatih into the world in Adana. Little did they know that their son would carve an indelible mark on the Turkish football landscape and beyond.

Fatih Terim’s initiation into the world of football began in 1969 with Adana Demirspor. In those early days, financial constraints cast a shadow, but his passion for the game and resilience propelled him forward.

Terim faced the challenges head-on, becoming the sole player in the team secretly receiving remuneration—an early testament to his determination. The football journey of Terim continued, marking significant chapters with Ceyhanspor, Adana Demirspor, and the iconic Galatasaray.

During his 11-year tenure with Galatasaray, Terim’s prowess on the field translated into victories, including the Prime Minister’s Cup in 1975 and 1979, the Turkish Cup in the 1975-1976, 1981-1982, and 1984-1985 seasons, and the Turkish Super Cup in 1982.

Beyond his accomplishments as a player, Fatih Terim seamlessly transitioned into football management. His managerial career saw him lead clubs in Italy, such as Milan and Fiorentina, and various teams in Turkey, including the national team. The pinnacle of his coaching career came with Turkey, where he managed the national team from 2013 to 2017.

Recognition for Terim’s contributions to football extended beyond Turkey’s borders. On April 25, 2007, he was honored with the prestigious “Commendatore” award by the Italian state—a testament to his impact on the global football stage.
