The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, May 21, around 11 p.m., involved a Yutong bus traveling from Kumasi to Gaaru and a Rhino vehicle.

According to Ibrahim Yogo, the Assemblyman for Anyinasusu, the absence of speed bumps on the road contributed to the accident. He emphasized that the presence of speed bumps could have compelled drivers to reduce their speed, potentially averting the tragedy.

Yogo confirmed the fatalities and stated that the bodies of the deceased have been taken to a nearby hospital for preservation and identification.

Survivors of the accident are currently receiving medical attention for their injuries.

Describing the sequence of events, Yogo explained, “The speeding bus embarked on an overtaking, colliding with the truck which was carrying mangoes at the time. The three victims were discovered dead during a rescue mission while the others survived with various degrees of injury.”

He further noted, “The accident occurred in a neighboring town close to my electoral area. Our road in recent times has now become a death trap due to a lack of speed ramps. And so, we plead with authorities to build speed ramps on the adjoining communities to avoid such crashes.”

The community mourns the loss of lives and calls for urgent measures to enhance road safety and prevent future tragedies.
