In his review of the red carpet at the recent TGMAs on TV3’s New Day, the fashion designer stated that there has been no improvement in the red carpet standards for the TGMAs.
On June 6, Joey told host Cookie Tee that the organizers of the TGMA should have been more selective about which looks were showcased on the red carpet.
He described the 25th TGMA’s red carpet as “chaotic.”

“We are at a point where there is no general improvement on the looks and feel of our red carpet in the sense that I feel it was a bit chaotic in organization.

“Not everybody qualifies to be screened on the red carpet and the looks and all of that I guess is another conversation that we have to have with the organisers trying to get the people who are going to get on the red carpet well-fitted enough before they get unto the red carpet.
“But generally speaking, I wasn’t too excited about the looks that I saw,” he explained.
Joey went on to rate the 25th TGMA red carpet as below average, scoring it four out of ten.
The creative director recommended that the TGMA organizers consider collaborating with local fashion brands to have preliminary discussions with the celebrities who will be on the red carpet.
The red carpet for the 25th TGMA sparked widespread conversation on social media the night of the event, as celebrities and others showcased fashionable looks.
