Famakinwa Ajayi: 61-year-old pastor imprisoned for 18years for impregnating 16-year-old girl

Famakinwa Ajayi, a 61-year-old preacher, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for impregnating a 16-year-old girl in a startling turn of events.

Famakinwa, the chief pastor of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Akure North, allegedly raped and pregnant the girl (name withheld).

At the Ondo State court, the preacher was charged with two counts. That is, unlawful sexual intercourse with a child in violation of Section 31(1) of the Ondo State Child’s Rights Law, and sexual abuse and exploitation in violation of Section 32 of the Ondo State Child’s Rights Law (1).

Ms. Helen Falowo, the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions at the Ondo State Ministry of Justice, filed suit No: AK/195C/2021 on behalf of the Ondo State Government.

Mrs. Falowo, the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, testified in court that the suspect defiled and repeatedly had carnal knowledge of the victim at his house, where the victim’s family lived as tenants.

She further claimed that the defendant raped the victim at the market square, where he took her under the guise of freeing her from demonic entities.

Nonetheless, the priest was found guilty and sentenced to 18 years in prison for rape and impregnating a child.
