Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid is a Nigerian musician and a songwriter. He was born on July 16, 1990, in Lagos. He began his music career at age 11 when he joined his church choir.

Wizkid signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment and rose to fame when he released his single, Holla At Your Boy.

  • Wizkid used to be called Lil Prinz before he changed to his current name when he rose to fame.
  • His first album with his defunct group Glorious 5 sold 10,000 copies.
  • Before he rose to fame, he had direct contact with 2Face Idibia, Naeto C and Sound Sultan.
  • He rose to fame in 2009 when he features on M.I Abaga’s song, Fast cars.
  • In 2011, Wizkid welcomed his first son, Boluwatife who is currently 3 years old.
  • Wizkid dropped out of Lead City University in his third year. He was offering Internation Relations as a course.
  • Wizkid is the youngest African to be nominated in Grammy’s awards.
  • The governor of Minnesota, Mark Dayton honoured Wizkid by naming a day after him in the United States.
