Evgeny Kuznetsov Parents: Meet Larisa Kuznetsova, Evgeny Kuznetsov

Evgeny Kuznetsov is a Russian professional ice hockey forward who plays for the National Hockey League’s Washington Capitals (NHL).

Evgeny Kuznetsov was born in Chelyabinsk, Russia to Larisa Kuznetsova and Evgeny Kuznetsov.

During an interview at the Washington Capitals practice facility in 2016, Evgeny Kuznetsov shared that his first memories of hockey were when his dad took him to games.

“I tell you one of my very first memories,” he said then. “My dad takes me to the rink, and I see this older guy score goal, and he does a really cool celebration. Slide around on his knees, you know? I say to myself, ‘I want to do that. This looks so fun.’”

Evgeny Kuznetsov began skating at the age of six and his father taught him the fundamentals of hockey, and the game quickly captivated little Evgeny who enrolled in the Sports School of the Olympic Reserve in hockey “Tractor.”

Evgeny Kuznetsov was drafted in the first round (26th overall) by the Capitals in 2010. He has represented Russia in both junior and senior level competitions, winning gold medals at the 2011 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, as well as the 2012 and 2014 IIHF World Championships.
