Erik van Rooyen is a professional golfer from South Africa who presently competes on the European Tour and the PGA Tour. He won the European Tour’s Scandinavian Invitation in 2019 and the PGA Tour’s Barracuda Championship in 2021.

Van Rooyen finished third in the Joburg Open in December 2017, three strokes behind Shubhankar Sharma.
The competition was part of the Open Qualifying Series, and his strong performance earned him a spot in the 2018 Open Title, his first major championship.
After three rounds, he led the 2018 Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open by four shots, but a final round 74 put him into a tie for fourth place.

Van Rooyen had a strong start to the year, placing second in both the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters and the Hassan II Golf Trophy. He also finished in the top ten at the 2019 PGA Championship.
Van Rooyen won his first European Tour title at the Scandinavian Invitation at Hills Golf & Sports Club on August 25, 2019.
Erik van Rooyen is playing in his second Masters, having won his first PGA Tour title at the Barracuda Championship the previous season. After five top-10 finishes, three of which came in the final five events of the year, the South African qualified for the Tour Championship for the first time.
He had to retire from the 2021 Masters after the first round due to injury.
