The series, initially halted by an Equity strike, eventually flourished and even made its mark in North America as “The Piccadilly Palace.” This period marked their venture into international stardom, with Morecambe and Wise becoming beloved figures on both sides of the Atlantic.

With the BBC: 1968–1978

The transition to the BBC in 1968 brought about a change in the writing team, with Eddie Braben joining the fold. Under Braben’s guidance, Morecambe and Wise’s dynamic evolved, creating a perfect balance between humor and camaraderie. Their annual BBC Christmas shows became a staple of British holiday television, with the 1977 episode reaching an astounding 28 million viewers.
