Eric Cantona is married to actress Rachida Brakni. Brakani joined the Comedie Francaise, as a member of which she won a Moliere Award for her performance in Ruy Blas. In 2002, she was awarded the Cesar Award for Most Promising Actress for her performance in Chaos.

In 2020, she directed her husband Eric Cantona, in Face au paradis, a contemporary play, written by young French playwright, Nathalie Saugeon. The production opened at Theatre Marigny on the Champs-Elysees in January 2010.

In 2012, she joined her husband, Cantona as the face of the fashion brand, The Kooples in an advertising campaign.
In 1997, Cantona unexpectedly announced his retirement from football at the age of 30. He pursued a career in cinema and had roles in the 1998 film, Elizabeth, starring Cate Blanchett; the 2008 film French Film, and the 2009 film, Looking For Eric.
Cantona also took an interest in the sport of beach soccer; as player-manager of the France national team, he won the 2005 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
