Damián Emiliano Martínez is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Aston Villa and the Argentina national team.

Having represented Argentina in the youth levels, Martinez made his Argentina senior national team debut in 2021, playing a key role as Argentina went on to win the 2021 Copa América.
He went on to finish the tournament with a clean sheet in the 1–0 victory over Brazil in the final.

As a result of his fine performances, Martínez was awarded the 2021 Copa América’s Golden Glove award as the best keeper of the tournament.
He was included in Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad, saving two penalties in a shoot-out against the Netherlands in the quarter final, helping his team make it to the last four.
He also kept a clean sheet as they defeated Croatia 3-0 to make it to the final.
In 6 games played thus far at te World Cup, Martinez has kept three clean sheets – against Poland, Mexico and Croatia.
