Emilia Clarke Brain: Why did Emilia Clarke have a brain hemorrhage? Does Emilia Clarke still have aphasia?

Emilia Clarke revealed that she survived two potentially fatal brain aneurysms during the early years of Game of Thrones.

Emilia Clarke had her first aneurysm in February 2011. She had just finished filming Game of Thrones’ first season.

Emilia Clarke’s aneurysm started a very bad headache as she was working out.  She was taken to the hospital and found out that she had a subarachnoid haemorrhage, a type of stroke that occurs when an aneurysm ruptures and spills blood into the space surrounding the brain.

Clarke was subjected to a three-hour emergency procedure. Clarke discovered two weeks after surgery that she couldn’t remember her name and spoke gibberish when she tried to speak a common stroke-related language impairment known as aphasia.

Fortunately, after a week in the intensive care unit, the aphasia resolved on its own. Clarke was able to speak again and recall her name.

A second, smaller aneurysm was discovered on the opposite side of her brain by doctors.
Her second minimally invasive catheterization procedure was supposed to go better than the first.

Instead, she suffered a massive brain bleed that necessitated a different type of emergency surgery for her to survive. Fortunately, for Emilia, her memory was not affected in the long run.
