Emil won his first three singles matches in straight sets but lost in the quarterfinals to Corentin Moutet. He was partnered with Vrbensky in the men’s doubles competition and lost in the first round

Ruusuvuori, who is ranked No. 100, made his Masters debut in 2020 and advanced to the second round of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati. For the first time in his career, he advanced to the second round of a Grand Slam.

He overcame Aljaz Bedene in the first round of the 2020 US Open (tennis), setting up a second-round match with Casper Ruud. Emil was eliminated from the event after retiring against Ruud in the third set.
