Emerson Allsworth obituary – Emerson Lincoln Allsworth was a Florida politician and lawyer who represented Broward County in the Florida House of Representatives from 1959 to 1966. Allsworth was born on August 24, 1926, and passed away on May 24, 2023, at the age of 96.

Allsworth was a South Floridian by birth.
He attended Miami Senior High School, the University of Miami, and the University of Miami School of Law.
He served two (2) years in the United States Navy during WWII and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Air Force Reserve during the Korean War.
He was a Fort Lauderdale lawyer for almost seventy (70) years and never retired.

Allsworth was the state’s youngest prosecutor at the time, at 28 years old and only two (2) years out of law school.

He served in the Florida Legislature for eight (8) years, having been elected to the House of Representatives from Broward County from 1958 to 1966.
He was chosen by Governor Haydon Burns to serve on the Florida Constitution Revision Commission in 1967.
Allsworth was also a member of the University of Miami Board of Trustees for fifteen (15) years.
Shirley McDowell of St. Louis was Allsworth’s wife for over 62 years until her death in 2015 and they have four children: Emerson Scott Allsworth, John Allsworth, Terrance Allsworth, and Mark Allsworth.
